Hull and Sweet's Highlights

This past week, we opened our 2nd lunch line!  We have already noticed a huge improvement in the cafeteria.  Students are having more time to eat and engage in conversations with their peers.

The Woodland family is fantastic!  It was also great to see so many of you at Pink Walrus this past Tuesday.  These fundraisers for the school go a long way to help make the students of Woodland Elementary successful in the classroom.  The school looks forward to using the profits coming in to directly impact student achievement here at school!!!

Parent Teacher Conference Forms are coming soon.  Evidence suggests that family engagement matters for student success. Research shows that family engagement improves school readiness, student achievement, and social skills. As educators, we understand families are core partners in the learning process. We are excited to show you all the great things your children are doing at school.

Thanks for a great week and we look forward to finishing September on a high note!!!

The tardy bell rings at 9:00 a.m. If a student arrives at school after the tardy bell rings we require a parent to walk the student into the building and sign the student in at the office. A hallway pass will be given to the student and they may proceed to class.

Tippecanoe School Corporation and Woodland Elementary Website!!

TSC's website underwent a complete overhaul last summer. It has essentially become a one stop shop for all news, events, and reminders. Please take some time to explore the site and the "Parents" tab. Under this tab you will find how to access the ParentPortal and most importantly—how to sign up for alerts.  Please click the link "TSC Alerts & Notifications".  This link will take you to a document that will guide you in signing up for alerts via text or email. This is  very important because of late buses. Or weather delays/cancellations. It is also a great way to get reminders for events that we place on our school calendar. If you have questions, please call the Woodland office.

PLEASE be sure to keep your EMAIL ADDRESS  up to date on your ParentPortal for important communication from the school office!!

All students who are picked up and /or dropped off by cars are to utilize the back parking lot. Students should enter doors #16 and #17. Students may not be dropped off before 8:50. Please do not let your student out of the vehicle before you see an adult.

The front parking area is for unloading and loading buses only. Please DO NOT drop off any students in the front of the building.

All doors will be locked at 9:00. If your child arrives after 9:00 please enter through the front doors and you must sign them in at the office.

The Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students had an eye exam conducted by the Lion's Club on 9/14/18. If your student passed the screening. Nothing will be done. If your child has failed their screening, you will receive a referral to be seen by an optometrist. Please return these forms to school with your child once they have been completed by their optometrist. If you would like more information regarding their exams, please feel free to call the health office and I will be happy to speak with you. If your student is in Kindergarten, the school nurse has given you or will be giving you a phone call to speak in regards to the failed vision screenings.

Volunteer Procedures Changing - Effective September 30, 2018 -- Don't wait!

It is a priority of the Tippecanoe School Corporation to provide a safe learning environment for all of our students and employees. In an effort to continue our due diligence, we now require all volunteers having ongoing contact with children and/or supervising students (field trips, etc.) to have cleared an expanded criminal background check. These background checks are conducted through Background Investigation Bureau (BIB).

The criminal background check will search national sex offender databases, court records, and other sources. The cost of the criminal history check is $17.95 (base cost) and is paid for by the volunteer through a link on our website. SECUREVOLUNTEER

Once approved, the volunteer will receive a TSC Volunteer identification card that will be valid for a period of three (3) years. If you volunteer in multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one background check.

Volunteer background checks may take several business days to process so it is important to plan ahead.

We appreciate your understanding of this important safety guideline.
