NEWSLETTER

Hull Highlights

You will notice a new appearance to the Owl Alert newsletter from the Woodland office. We are using a tool through our new TSC website to format future newsletters. As a result, this will be the last issue of the office newsletter that will be printed as a hard copy and sent home with students. If you have not signed up through the TSC website to receive alerts and notifications, please do. This will allow you to easily access the Woodland webpage and for us to share the future Owl Alert issues with you. If you have difficulty with this process, please contact one of the school secretaries and they will be happy to help. Thanks.

Woodland first grade students celebrated the winter time with a festive musical program this past Monday afternoon in the gym. Art work completed by the students was on display in the front foyer around the school Christmas tree. We thank the many parents, grandparents and special guests who were able to arrange their schedules to join us for this fun afternoon.

The Lifeskills for next week and the week we return in January are resourcefulness and patience. Please accept my best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season! Enjoy your winter break!!

Sweet's Stop

Woodland is proud to say we have an incredibly safe school! Students, staff, and parents are always respectful of safety procedures and that is appreciated! Over the next year, we will be conducting in school discussions about best practice in school safety.  We will be going over our procedures and talking about what we can do to be even more diligent about school safety. Please understand that staff members work hard to keep each student safe. To do this, they may walk visitors to check in the office, ask visitors to enter through the main entry, or a variety of other safety instructions. Please know, they do this to keep our building safe, not to be a nuisance. Thank you for your continued support as we keep Woodland Elementary safe!

Next semester will involve many different school and state assessments.  Students will begin taking the second round of NWEA, ISTEP, and IRead.  Please be on the lookout for specific testing dates and do your best to motivate students to do their best. Try to avoid scheduling appointments and trips during test dates when possible. Students perform at a higher rate with the testing environment created during the class testing session.  Thanks for all you do to help your children be successful on these assessments!!!

It is hard to believe the first semester is coming to an end. It has been a fantastic semester and I can't wait to see what the rest of the school year brings. The students are working hard to grow more academically and socially everyday!  The last student day is  December 22nd and the students return Tuesday January 9th.  I hope you and your family have a fantastic holiday season and enjoy the winter break!!!

Reminders:

The tardy bell rings at 9:00 a.m. If a student arrives at school after the tardy bell rings we require a parent to walk the student into the building and sign the student in at the office. A hallway pass will be given to the student and they may proceed to class.

Winter weather is here!!! Make sure kids have coats for recess. We will be going outside on the days that the weather permits. Please put your Childs name somewhere on their coats. We have had some getting confused and taking the wrong coats.

Please also remember that it is cold outside and the student's do go outside for recess if the wind chill is at or above 24 degrees. Please send your student's to school with a winter coat.

If live lice or nits are noted, the parent/guardian will be notified. If live lice are found the student may be excluded from school at the discretion of Health Office Personnel.
