The Curriculum and Instruction Department supports over 13,000 students each day by providing leadership, oversight, and collaborative decision making processes to each school building in our district. We strive to maximize the funds our public school receives in order to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

The Curriculum and Instruction Department supports the academic programming in the district. These areas include: Curriculum Development, Curricular Material Utilization, Instructional Coaching, English as a New Language Programming and Instructional Support, Grant Writing and Management (Including Title I, Title II, Title III Grants), Principal Support K-12, Oversight of Career and Technical Education Programming, Oversight of Alternative Education, State Assessments, and District Instructional Technology.

The Tippecanoe School Corporation follows the Indiana Academic Standards as its core curriculum, which specifies the minimum expectations for learning in all grades and disciplines. Locally-developed additions to the curriculum serve to expand and enrich these state-wide measures of performance. The core curriculum is fluid and flexible, responding to the learning needs of students and affected by new information and technologies. Therefore, the Tippecanoe School Corporation curriculum is constantly undergoing periodic and systematic analysis and revision.

High School Curriculum

Harrison and McCutcheon High Schools are comprehensive secondary schools. The needs of each student are considered when offering an educational program. This guide is to inform students and parents of the requirements and the opportunities available within the curriculum of the Tippecanoe School Corporation. The descriptions are meant to be brief. More complete information and course outlines may be obtained from the schools’ counseling departments.

The Counseling Departments would like to work with students, parents, and faculty in planning each student’s course of study, although the primary responsibility for selecting courses must be taken by the student and his/her parents. Students will be aided through counseling as to what is available, what is required, and the possible outcomes of different choices. However, the actual choices are left to the student. If college bound, the student may wish to consult with his/her college choice for proper high school preparation classes.

High School Summer School

Summer 2017

Session I: June 5, 2017 - June 23, 2017 from 7:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
Session II: June 26, 2017 - July 17, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Virtual Classes: June 5, 2017 - July 17, 2017

July 4, 2017- Holiday/ No Classes Scheduled

Attendance Policy: The summer school attendance policy requires a student to be in class 70 of the 75 hours. Therefore, a student may miss one day of a three week session. In addition to the one day (five hours) a student may miss one additional day for an activity if the activity relates to the summer school class. Second day absences must have prior approval from the building principal.

The Tippecanoe School Corporation is excited to announce that there are five online classes being offered during summer sessions, in addition to the traditional classroom courses. Students may take one Virtual course at the same time as a traditional classroom course. Virtual course students will need to report to the building on the first day of summer school to receive orientation to the class. Final exams for Virtual courses will be held at the high school as well, so students will need to plan on being present at the building on the final day.
