The Indiana Department of Education awarded Klondike Middle School the Indiana Gold Star Counseling Award. Counselor Cristina Morales and teacher Caren Walker accepted the award for Klondike at a ceremony November 2 at the Indiana School Counselor Association fall conference in Indianapolis.
The award highlights the hours of work completed by Klondike's school counseling steering team and advisory council in designing a vision-based, data-driven school counseling program that meets the academic, career, and social/emotional development needs of students.
Receiving the Gold Star designation is evidence of the collaboration it takes among educators and staff for students to be successful," said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. "I want to recognize and commend these schools for understanding the tremendous impact school counselors and school and community members have in helping our students and fully preparing them for life beyond high school."
