4th Grade Statehouse Field Trip

Earlier this month, the fourth grades visited Indiana's Statehouse in Indianapolis. They were able to see all three branches of government, including both the House of Representatives and the Senate, the Supreme Court, and many Executive offices.

During our visit we were able to enter and sit in the House and the Senate lawmakers' chairs, where our elected officials discuss and create new laws to keep us all safe. Spokespersons for our own House Representative Sharon Nagle and Senator Alting met with us to give interesting information on their behalf. We also sat in the gallery of the Indiana Supreme Court, where decisions are made about laws' fairness to our citizens. It was very interesting to see where our government takes place.  It was a great trip that supported the government lessons that had been taught in class.

Sandra Markle--- Science is Magic!

Wea Ridge hosted author Sandra Markle on Wednesday, April 11.  She has written over 200 non-fiction books about animals and science.  During her visit she told us about how she researches for books by visiting such places as Antarctica and Australia to learn more about her topics.  Our favorite part of her visit was watching the science in action.  Did you know that Ivory soap has air it in and will expand into bubbles if heated in a microwave for a short time?  Thanks to our wonderful PTO for sponsoring this visit and the literacy team for organizing this event.

Summer Registration for all returning students

Just a reminder. All returning students, including incoming kindergarten students must be re-registered this summer. Open registration will be July 16-27. During this two week period, all parents are asked to log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal Account and update your students online registration. This will signal to the office that your student will be returning for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please note, this includes incoming Kindergarteners as well.  At that time, parents can apply for assistance if needed, pay book rental fees online and see who your student's teacher will be for the upcoming school year.

Are you Moving??

If you are moving out of the Wea Ridge district over the summer please call Mrs. Garza at 471-9321 or send an email to bgarza@tsc.k12.in.us so we can make plans to have records forwarded to your next school .
