As this newsletter reaches your household, summer vacation is rapidly coming to a close, and William Henry Harrison High School is ready to begin the school year.  Every school year is filled with numerous successes, and I have every reason to believe that this school year will be outstanding as well. I am excited and honored to be the principal at Harrison, and I am looking forward to working with our many outstanding students and parents throughout the coming school year as well as for years to come.

Harrison High School is destined for amazing things in 2018 - 2019. The gifts and talents of our students combined with the dedication and passion of our teachers and staff allows us to strive for excellence. Excellence is not the result of a good intention or a clever slogan. It is not a value that is easily achieved. It comes from a strong desire to improve how we do things when we see something that we can do better.  We will continue to work hard as a staff to ensure that Harrison will always be recognized as a school that sets its students and teachers up for success.

Four times per school year, this newsletter will be an excellent way to keep informed about events involving your student's education at Harrison.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please contact me at cmarshall@tsc.k12.in.us or 765.463.3511.  Enjoy the remaining days of summer, and I am excited to get school started on August 14th!

SCHOOL SUPPLIES?! Harrison does not have a set school supplies list; however, it is recommended that students new to HHS bring a writing utensil and something on which to take notes until they learn what is needed for each class.  It is NOT necessary to purchase a book bag or PC as all students are required to carry their TSC-issued book bag and computer for school.  Returning students can bring their TSC-issued book bag and computer starting August 14th.

Incoming freshmen, students new to Harrison, and parents of both are invited to Raider Rally 6-7 PM, Thur, Aug 9th at HHS.  (Click the Raider logo to the right for more info.)

Safety, Security, & Student Behavior

Be In The Know!  The safety, security, and behavior of Raider students, staff, parents, and visitors is of utmost importance at Harrison.  With that said, Vice Principal Salmon would like everyone to be aware of the following:

Student Behavior

  • Please review the Student Handbook with your student prior to day one of school. Pay specific attention to the dress code and discipline sections.
  • Attendance notes must be submitted within 48 hours after the student returns to school or the absence will be marked as unexcused.

 Safety & Security

  • Parents are invited to attend a TSC School Safety Forum on August 9th!
  • As a family, please discuss the concept of "If you see something; say something!"  There's a big difference between being a snitch versus saving a life.
  • All the building doors will be locked throughout the day, including the main doors. Please allow for a little extra time if picking up your student during the school day.
  • Students are expected to leave the building by 2:35 PM unless they are part of a club meeting or athletic practice or serving after-school detention.
  • We are a closed campus, there is no leaving during lunch, unless a student has an excused absence such as a doctor's appointment.

A Note from the Nurse

"You mean I have to what?!"  Before you start the new school year the HHS nursing staff would like you to take notice of the following three (3) very important things:

1. New Immunization Requirements for the 2018-2019 School Year

Seniors are required to have a second Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) and two Hepatitis A vaccines prior to the start of the school year. The CDC is recommending... Read More
