We are very excited to welcome our new principal, Ryan Simmons to the Dayton family! Here is a little bit about Mr. Simmons. 

 

Mr. Simmons is originally from Avon, Indiana and graduated from Avon High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. He has been married to his wife, Melissa, for almost 6 years. They have one daughter, Amelia, who is 4 years old and identical twin boys, Grant and Grady, who are 2 months old. They also have two dogs, Joey and Owen.


Mr. Simmons is in his ninth year in education. He spent many years as an elementary teacher in Speedway Schools in Speedway, Indiana. After teaching he  accepted a principal position at College Corner Union Elementary School in Eastern Indiana. After two years at College Corner he is now joining us at Dayton Elementary. 

 

Words from Mr, Simmons, "I am so excited to get started at Dayton Elementary and my family is excited to be a part of the community. I look forward to working with you all and partnering with you to provide your student with a positive, supportive and nurturing educational environment. I am eager to get to know all of you and your children! I look forward to a wonderful school year!"

Bulldog Bash Tonight!!

We welcome all families tonight from 5:00-6:00 pm to our annual Bulldog Bash. This is a great way to meet your teacher, bring in your school supplies, meet Mr. Simmons, and get excited for the new year. 

We will have a couple different tables set up with information regarding boy scouts, PTO information and events, and Just Us Kids (our before and after school care program.) 


Make sure you stop in the cafeteria! Our LIM Environment Action Team has set up 2 photo booths. You will have the opportunity to create a family mission statement. We will be posting all pictures in the hallway for the start of school. Please make sure you stop by with your family's and share your mission statement with us.


We cant wait to see everyone!!

New Faces

We are happy to welcome:

Krystal VanLaere has moved to 4th grade this year.

Sarah Harmon as our new 4/5 HA teacher.

Angela Barnes as our new Art Teacher.

Emily Hayes, Brianne Richards and Lynn TIlton to our Title I Department.

Marci Scobee will be our tech aide this school year.

Sandy Martindale will be Dayton's computer tech person within the tech department.

Alyssa Miller will be our school psychologist here at Dayton. Cristi Goad will be working in our cafeteria.

Jamie McKim will be a special education paraprofessional.

School Procedures

*Doors will open at 8:50 am. Students are not to enter the building until 8:50. Students should wait in the car rider line until a teacher dismisses them. If your child walks to school please have them wait outside until the doors open at 8:50. If your child is a Breakfast eater they will be allowed in at 8:45 am, all other students will be released with the bell at 8:50. The tardy bell will ring at 9:00. Any student arriving after 9:00 must have a parent sign him/her in at the office. They will need to get a tardy pass. 

*If you know your child will be late or absent please call the office at 447-5004. All absences must be reported by a parent prior to school starting. If your child is sick please make sure to send in a doctor's note to excuse the missed day. 

*If there will be a change in your child's afternoon procedures please call the office no later than 3:00 pm. The afternoon gets busy and we want to make sure we have enough time to get all notes delivered. 

*If your child needs any medication at school a parent or guardian will need to bring it to the nurse's office in it's original bottle with a doctor's note. Students are not allowed to bring medication to school.

TSC Alerts And Notifications

Parents/guardians, staff, and students must sign into the website and register to receive alerts, calendar reminders, weather delays/closings, and more. TSC will do all communications through their website. Please follow the link below. If you have questions please contact the office.

Here Comes The Bus

If your child rides the bus you can sign up to get notifications and alerts regarding the location of your child's bus. Follow the link below from a computer. You will need to enter school code 75598 for Dayton Elementary.

Volunteer Information

As per Tippecanoe School Corporation Policy 8120 – Volunteers, each volunteer who is in direct contact with students will be required to submit a Limited Criminal History Record Check in order to volunteer within the school. Any chaperone who wishes to attend a field trip must also have a completed and approved Limited Criminal History Record Check as well. You will have the opportunity to fill this form out at the Bulldog Bash. Everyone that plans on volunteering must fill out a new form each year!

Jumping In

Our PTO is always hard at work! They have starting off this school year getting some fun things organized. Please help us make this year the best!

*Our Fall Festival will be Friday, October 12th from 5:00-8:00 pm. This is a huge fundraiser for us and we need lots of help! If you are interested in helping or making a donation please contact Michelle Zaremba at DAYTONINPTO@gmail.com. We are having a Fall Festival planning meeting on Thursday, August 23 at 6:00 pm in the media center. 

*We will also be creating a school wide cookbook this year, Bulldog Bites. Please send your recipes in via email at DAYTONINPTO@gmail.com, or your can send a hard copy into the office. Our deadline in September 30th.

*Dayton has collected lots of coke reward points and we need your help to enter the codes so we are able to get credit for them.Please join us on Friday Aug 31st from 6:00-8:00 pm in the media center. We will be serving pizza!
