NEWSLETTER

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL

We are very excited for the 2018-2019 school year! Just a reminder, we no longer print newsletters and lunch menus. These will be emailed to you each month and can also be found on our website. Please be sure to read them each month. Many parent questions can be answered in these newsletters. As always, you can call the office if you have any questions.

VISITORS

If you plan to be a visitor at MME you must sign in at the office and receive a visitor's badge. If you are simply dropping off an item to your child, we ask that you do not interrupt class, rather just drop the item in the office and we will make sure your student gets it. If you wish to speak with a teacher, please set up a time that is convenient with them. This can be done via email or by leaving the teacher a voicemail.  Instruction time is vital and we prefer not to interrupt the classroom unless absolutely necessary.

LUNCH VISITS

Please feel free to join your child for lunch on any given day. We do ask that you call us by 10:30am so we can notify the cafeteria with plenty of notice. We also ask that you do not bring fast food into the school building. You are more than welcome to bring in a sack lunch or eat a school lunch. Thank you for your understanding! Adult lunches are $2.70. Please bring exact change.

CAR RIDER STUDENTS

If your child is a car rider you must use the car rider line at the back door. Car rider students may not enter or exit through the front doors. Please DO NOT drop off your children before 8:45am and leave. The teachers and staff are in meetings and are not available to supervise your student. The car rider doors have adults supervising them from 8:45-9:00am. If your student arrives later than 9:00am please bring them in the front entrance and sign them in Tardy at the office. This is for their safety. Students are only considered tardy if they arrive after 9:00 am. Please see the car rider map below. If you have further questions you may call the office at (765)538-3875. Thank you.

A REMINDER FROM THE NURSE

Please do not send your child to school if they have had a temperature over 100, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours. If a student is sent home from school for fever, vomiting or diarrhea they will be out the following day as well. Students CANNOT bring medicine to school.  All medicines & inhalers have to be brought to school BY THE PARENT. Cough drops CANNOT be sent to school either, we have cough drops in the health room students can take when needed.

ATTENDANCE

Please don't forget to call or email the school in the event your child is absent. You can call the office at 765-538-3875 anytime. You can leave a message if no one is available to take your call. If you prefer to email, you may do that also. Please email both Cheryl and Danielle at cnoble@tsc.k12.in.us and dekochert@tsc.k12.in.us. Thank you!

TARDY STUDENTS

If your student arrives to school after 9am, they are tardy. You must come into the office and sign him/her in. Once your student has been signed in Tardy, a pass will print for your child to take to their teacher. To avoid further classroom interruption, your student is expected to walk to class on their own. If they need assistance walking to class we will gladly help them. Not signing your student in could result in them accidentally being counted absent for the entire day. If possible, please contact the office to inform us your child will be Tardy and give us their lunch preference. Students are considered Tardy until 10:30am. Arriving after 10:30am will result in a half day AM absence.

PICKING UP STUDENTS DURING SCHOOL HOURS

If you need to pick up your child for an appointment during the school day, please send a note with your child or call the office. You must come into the building to sign your student out in the office. Please note that after 3pm, the office will not interrupt your child's class.  Student's signed out prior to 2pm will be given a half day PM absence. If you sign your child out after 2pm, it will result in a PM Tardy. This is the only code we have in our system to show that a student left early that does not count as a half day absence.
