Hull Highlights

Students always amaze me at how well they adjust to school schedules and routines.so quickly. This year is no exception! The kids are doing a great job!!

Mr. Sweet and I have begun our classroom visits. Each of us takes time to meet with all students in each class so they have an opportunity to learn more about us other than our roles as principal and assistant principal. I always enjoying hearing their responses when I ask them what they think I do during the school day while they are in class!!

The Woodland Family Grillout and Movie Night will be Friday, September 21 at Woodland Elementary School. We are anticipating a great turnout for hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and hotdogs followed by a showing of the movie, "Peter Rabbit" in the school gymnasium. Information and  food order forms were sent home with students today. We do need these forms returned with your payment by Wednesday, September 19. Also, if you are able to donate your time during this event it would be much appreciated. We hope to see many of you there!

The Lifeskills for the next two weeks are perseverance and organization.

Sweet's Stop

It is hard to believe we are already in the month of September!  The students have done a great job learning the school expectations and policies.  It has been impressive to watch them grow in such a short amount of time!!!

We are pleased to announce the Student Activity Committee members for 2018-2019!  In 4th grade: Mackenzie Sims, Laila Kincade,Brody Baker, Viviana Bustos-Deloya, Emily Corona, Jaelyn Kellen, Dontavious Allen, Adilyn Cook. In 5th grade: Claudia Jenkins, Giselle Torres, Aliyah Chaires, Braelyn Williams, Emily Lopez-Gutierrez, Miriam Abu Nimeh, Lily Kite, Dayanara Mancia. We are proud of these students and look forward to watching them in leadership roles at Woodland this school year!!!

Since the Kindergarten students are becoming more aware of lunchroom procedures, it is time for them to begin typing in their lunch codes in the lunchroom.  We will begin with one class and will add classes as the weeks continue. Thank you for your help at home helping them learn these numbers that will follow them each year.

School Closings and Delays:

For information on school closings and delays, please tune to WLFI TV 18, WASK 98.7 (radio), WAZY 96.5 or TSC Website, Sign up to receive notices via email or text at www.tsc.k12.in.us

Reminders:

The tardy bell rings at 9:00 a.m. If a student arrives at school after the tardy bell rings we require a parent to walk the student into the building and sign the student in at the office. A hallway pass will be given to the student and they may proceed to class.

Tippecanoe School Corporation and Woodland Elementary Website!!

TSC's website underwent a complete overhaul last summer. It has essentially become a one stop shop for all news, events, and reminders. Please take some time to explore the site and the "Parents" tab. Under this tab you will find how to access the ParentPortal and most importantly—how to sign up for alerts.  Please click the link "TSC Alerts & Notifications".  This link will take you to a document that will guide you in signing up for alerts via text or email. This is  very important because of late buses. Or weather delays/cancellations. It is also a great way to get reminders for events that we place on our school calendar. If you have questions, please call the Woodland office.

PLEASE be sure to keep your EMAIL ADDRESS  up to date on your ParentPortal for important communication from the school office!!

DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES

All students who are picked up and /or dropped off by cars are to utilize the back parking lot. Students should enter doors #16 and #17. Students may not be dropped off before 8:50. Please do not let your student out of the vehicle before you see an adult.

The front parking area is for unloading and loading buses only. Please DO NOT drop off any students in the front of the building.

All doors will be locked at 9:00. If your child arrives after 9:00 please enter through the front doors and you must sign them in at the office.

Volunteer Procedures Changing - Effective September 30, 2018 -- Don't wait!

It is a priority of the Tippecanoe School Corporation to provide a safe learning environment for all of our students and employees. In an effort to continue our due diligence, we now require all volunteers having ongoing contact with children and/or supervising students (field trips, etc.) to have cleared an expanded criminal background check. These background checks are conducted through Background Investigation Bureau (BIB).

The criminal background check will search national sex offender databases, court records, and other sources. The cost of the criminal history check is $17.95 (base cost) and is paid for by the volunteer through a link on our website. SECUREVOLUNTEER

Once approved, the volunteer will receive a TSC Volunteer identification card that will be valid for a period of three (3) years. If you volunteer in multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one background check.

Volunteer background checks may take several business days to process so it is important to plan ahead.

We appreciate your understanding of this important safety guideline.
