Words from Mr. Simmons...

Thank you for another great week of learning and leading at Dayton Elementary School.  We have just completed all of our beginning of the year baseline testing and the teachers are now using that data to formulate lessons that reach each learner.

We are excited to welcome author Bruce Hale to DES on Monday.  He will be reading some of his books to the students.  Please make sure that you ask your student about this awesome experience when you see them after school on Monday.

We are also looking forward to hosing our first Leader in Me Parent Night on Thursday, September 27th from 6-7pm.  If you look below, you'll see more information and a copy of the flyer that will go home today.  RSVP's are required so that we know how many parents to expect.  We will be discussing Habit 1:  Be Proactive.  We hope that you'll join us for this great opportunity to learn more about Habit 1 of the Leader in Me.

If you're on Twitter, Dayton now has a Twitter Account.  Feel free to follow us @DES_Bulldogs1.

I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.  Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child's education.  I look forward to another wonderful week!

- Mr. Simmons, Principal

Morning Procedures

When you are dropping your child off in the morning please remember these important details:

*Doors do not open until 8:45 am for breakfast, and 8:50 for all other students. Students are not allowed in the building until 8:50 am.

*Please make sure you pull all the way up to the white line. This is just past door 15. This will allow us to get multiple cars to drop off at one time.

*Please stay in your car. If your child needs help getting out of the car an adult will be out there helping. If you need to get out please find a parking spot to park at.

*Please have your child ready and say your goodbyes before you stop. This way we can keep the line moving.

*If you need to come into the school please park your car in a parking spot then enter the school.

We appreciate your understanding and help on keeping the drop off line safe and efficient.

Important Information From The Nurse

State policy states a school must have updated Immunization records and Birth Certificates on file for each student at the start of the school year. We are still missing some of this information. If you know you have not sent in these records please do so. The nurse will be sending letters out to the students for immunizations and you should have received one already for the birth certificates. Records Must be updated by Friday, September 28 or your child will not be able to attend school until we have this information. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

Want to Volunteer?

It is a priority of the Tippecanoe School Corporation to provide a safe learning environment for all of our students and employees. In an effort to continue our due diligence, we now require all volunteers having ongoing contact with children and/or supervising students (field trips, ect.) to have cleared an expanded criminal background check. These background checks are conducted through Background Investigation Burear (BIB).

The criminal background check will search national sex offender databases, court records, and other sources. The cost of the criminal history check is $17.95 (base cost) and is paid for by the volunteer through a link on our website.

Once approved, the volunteer will receive a TSC Volunteer identification card that will be valid for a period od three (3) years. If you volunteer in multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one background check.

Volunteer background checks may take several business days to process so it is important to plan ahead.

We appreciate your understanding of this important safety guideline.
