POP TABS
To many, a pop tab is just a piece of aluminum with one purpose – to open a can. But to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, these teeny tiny pop tabs are a valuable resource. Why? Collected pop tabs are recycled, generating much-needed funds to support the House and the nearly 5,000 families we serve each year. Funds received from the recycling of tabs typically add up to between $30,000 and $50,000 annually. All this money goes to the operating expenses of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana and can cover the cost of operating 3 rooms in the House for an entire year. Thanks to generous school children, families, businesses, clubs, and churches, over one billion pop tabs have been donated since the program's inception in 1995, generating more than $700,000 in pop tab revenue for the House.
Please continue to send in your pop tabs!
Counselor's Corner
Counselor's Corner
October is National Bullying Prevention Month! Throughout the end of September and early October, I went into each classroom to teach students about bullying and what they can do if they find themselves in a bullying situation. My role as the School Counselor is to educate all students on bullying and intervene wherever I can to make sure all students are supported and safe. All of our students, staff, and parents/guardians play a vital role in stopping bullying behaviors and making our school a more positive place!

Enchanted Forest Book Fair: Let Your Imagination Grow!!! October 12-19, 2018
Dear Parents,
The Wea Ridge Literacy Team and the PTO will be sponsoring a book fair next week in conjunction with Parent-Teacher conference time at Wea Ridge Elementary. A wide variety of books for every age and reading level will be available for immediate purchase. Our school earns a percentage of all sales made. The profits will be used to purchase additional materials for the book room and help pay for the visiting author in the spring. The book fair will be set up in the Large Group Instruction (LGI room) again this year. There will be no open shopping times during school hours. Students who wish to purchase items Monday through Friday during school hours will need to bring an envelope containing their order form and payment. Checks should be made payable to Wea Ridge Elementary. It is not necessary to include sales tax. Please make sure the student's name and room number are on the envelope. Parent volunteers will fill those orders and deliver them to the student's classroom. The book fair will be open for shopping during Parent-Teacher conferences on Tuesday and Thursday evening. It will be closing at 7:00, so if you have a conference after 6:45, please come and shop prior to the conference. Children accompanied by parents are welcome. If you are conferencing in the morning between 8:15 and 8:45, we will be open then, also. If you are interested in purchasing items for your child's classroom, look for the Classroom Wish List Board. You will find the schedule for the book fair below. Thank you for your support of this event.

Dear parents,
As we approach winter and flu season, we wanted to send a reminder with simple hints to help prevent the spread of illness. You can reduce your child's chance of being infected or infecting others by: · washing hands often with soap and water · coughing and sneezing into crook of elbow or sleeve · cleansing hands after blowing nose · not touching your eyes, nose, or mouth · avoiding close contact with people who are sick · staying home when you are vomiting or have a fever · Not sharing drinks and food with other Please share these tips with your children! Thank you in advance for your assistance! Kim Buckley, RN
