Photo Retakes

Photo retakes and Club Photos are scheduled for November 9.  If your child is in scouts, Lego League, Vex Robotics, etc. and has a club tee shirt or uniform, please have them wear it or bring it with them on Friday.

If you have received your child's photo proofs and would like retakes, send the original photo package back to school on Photo Retake Day.

Dress the Part

Some days, when the cold settles in, students return from recess with rosy cheeks.  As you know, we have quite a biting wind at Mintonye.  Children must dress appropriately to go outside for recess every day.  Unless there is heavy precipitation or the wind chill is consistently below ten degrees, outside recess is a reality.  Weather appropriate, closed toe shoes are a must. Make sure your children come to school wearing warm coats, gloves, and hats.  Children dressed in snow pants and snow boots are allowed to play IN the snow at recess.

Be sure to write your child's name inside every article of outdoor gear to avoid loss.  You would not believe the amount of clothing that goes unclaimed each week.  Your child's coats, shirts, tennis shoes, lunch boxes, hair ties, and oh, so much more, miss them.  Please stop by the horse trough, right outside the office, and do a quick search for long lost items.

Textbook Rental Fees

If you have not already, please pay (or make a payment towards) your child's materials (textbook) rental fee.  Final balances should be paid in full by the end of March.  Payments can be made via cash or check made payable to Mintonye Elementary, in the school office, or via credit card (a small service fee applies) via your child's   PowerSchool Parent Portal.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Brewer at klbrewer@tsc.k12.in.us or 765.538.2780.

Safety Concerns

Please watch for our students as you enter and exit the parking lot.  Student safety is the top priority and your patience and good parking lot behavior are expected.

Children may not be dropped off before 8:50 a.m., unless attending the YMCA Before and After School Care.  And, as a reminder, children entering the school after arrival need to be signed in, by an adult, at the office.

E-Flyers
TSC supports "green" efforts and as such to help ensure students receive information about community services or events, flyers from non-profit outside organizations are posted online in a section called E-flyers. All E-Flyers can be accessed on the TSC website by clicking the 'students' or 'parents' link in the upper right hand corner of the webpage. E-Flyers will be posted on the 15th and 30th of the month so be sure to check regularly for newly posted information. If your qualifying organization is interested in posting an E-Flyer, go to www.tscschools.com E-flyers section to submit the information.

Nurse's Notes
Prevention can be one of the best defenses during cold and flu season.  Be sure to contact your child's primary physician to schedule flu shots and remind your child to practice good hand hygiene.  Keep your children at home when they experience fevers or diarrhea.

The Health Office loans a good deal of clothing; pants, shirts, socks, underclothes, and even shoes, to students as needed for accidents.  We ask that you return the clothing to the health office as you are able.  Although they do not have the space to keep very much, there is a need for clothing size youth 4-16/18, most especially boys pants.  Any questions, please contact the school Health Office.  Thank you!

Getting Involved

We are happy to have an amazing group of dedicated and involved parents.  It takes many hands and minds to host and fund the events that have come to be a tradition here.  Parents of all students are invited to participate in any fashion.  Volunteers are needed to help plan, set up, chaperone, and tear down events.  The more the merrier.  Attend the next PTO meeting, held the second Thursday of each month, immediately after school, in the media center.  Our next meeting is Thursday, November 8.  (Childcare is available during the meeting.)  We need YOU!

It is a priority of the Tippecanoe School Corporation to provide a safe learning environment for all of our students and employees.  In an effort to continue our due diligence, we now require all volunteers having ongoing contact with children and/or supervising students (field trips, etc.) to have cleared an expanded criminal background check.  These background checks are conducted through Background investigation Bureau (BIB).

The criminal background check will search national sex offender databases, court records, and other sources.  The cost of the criminal history check is $17.95 (base cost) and is paid by the volunteer.

Once approved, the volunteer will receive a TSC Volunteer Identification Card that will be valid for a period of three years.  If you volunteer in multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one background check.

We appreciate your understanding of this important safety requirement.
