Dayton Elementary December 7, 2018 | Issue 10 NEWSLETTER Dayton Elementary School Ready, Set, Goal! Words from Mr. Simmons...
We had another great week at DES! Our food drive has started and we just finished the first week! We raised 1,185 cans this week! Our new goal is to make it 2,000 items by the end of the food drive. Tremendous effort by everyone! Our food drive continues next week and ends on the 14th. As of now, Mrs. Howard's class is currently in the lead! Continue to bring in that non-perishable food!
We also are in the middle of our NWEA testing. Our students have been working hard and have done a great job. Many of our classes will conclude testing next week.
Finally, we hope to see you at our Pancakes with Santa event tomorrow morning at DES. Information can be found below.
Have a fantastic weekend!
- Mr. Simmons, Principal
Santa Is Coming!!! Santa will be at Dayton tomorrow Saturday, December 8 for an all you can eat pancake breakfast from 8:30-11:30 am. Breakfast cost: Adults-$5 Children-$3 4 child payment cap Entry to the craft & vendor show is free for all! Events are open to the public. Important Reminder If your child's afternoon procedure is going to change the office needs either a written note or a phone call (no later than 3:00 pm) of this change.
If your child is involved in an after school club and should stay on a particular day we need a note stating they are to stay for that club. We will need a note for each day they stay for the club. This helps us get every child safely to were they should be going. Baby Its Cold Outside Please make sure you are sending your child to school prepared to go outside for recess. It gets cold and we have lots of kids without hats and gloves and we do not have enough in the nurse's office for everyone. If we have snow and your child wants to play in the snow they must have snow boots and snow pants. If you have extra hats and gloves please consider donating them to the nurse's office. Thank you.
Celebrate Indiana 4th grade shared their Indiana history play today. The 4th graders worked very hard on remembering their lines and learning the history of Indiana. Did you know that John Purdue donated money to build the first bridge across the Wabash? Or that Jim Davis was often confined to his bed as a child, so he would draw to amuse himself. He got his inspiration from the 25 cats that lived on his family farm. Is it any surprise that he created Garfield? Bulldog Spirit Wear There is still time to place your spirit order online and get orders before winter break. The deadline to receive your items by winter break is Monday, December 10. We are still collecting paper orders, you just will not get them by Christmas. Order online at https://dayton2018.itemorder.com/sale. Leader In Me Habit Home Runs Our Bulldogs have been working very hard on habit 3, Put First Things First.
Habit 3 means prioritizing important tasks and relationships. Putting your big rocks first! We sent home a green home run habit sheet for you to celebrate your child. Please share with us how they are working on the habit 3 at home.
Bulldogs, keep hitting it out of the ballpark!
Coat Collection With the colder weather, it has come to our attention that we have many kids here at Dayton that do not have coats, hats, and gloves. Dayton is collecting new and slightly used coats, hats, and gloves for our Dayton students in need. Please send your donation in to the front office. We thank you for your help!
