We would like to send a special thank you to the Wainwright band, choir, and dance team for their special performance on Wednesday. We appreciate them taking the time to show off their talent. Our kids loved the concert!   

ILEARN

Please mark your calendars for April 24-May 17. Students in grades 3-5 will take Indiana's assessment tests, ILEARN. Please help your children do their personal best by making sure they are in attendance on those days. Please do not schedule any trips or appointments during this time!

Spring Pictures

Spring pictures will be on Wednesday, April 10. Please return order form and money at this time if you wish to order pictures. You may order on line at mylifetouch.com. Dayton's picture ID is HM148312YO.

PTO Movie Night

Please join us for our last movie night of the year. PTO will be showing the movie, Ralph Breaks the Internet on Friday, April 12. Students will stay after school and will need to be picked up at 5:15 pm. All RSVP forms and money are due no later than Wednesday, April 10. No late forms will be accepted.

Spirit Week

We are having a spirit week April 15-19 to encourage grades 3-5 to do well on the ILEARN test. We hope all students will show their Dayton pride and participate.

Benefit Night

Dayton is having a benefit night at Trish's Red Bird Cafe on Thursday, April 18. This will run all day! So come enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all three! Dayton will receive 15% of all sales that day, just mention Dayton Elementary. Thank you for your support!

Talent Show

It is that time of the year to dust off your dance shoes, warm up your vocal cords, and show us your special talents. Please look for talent show forms to come home the week of April 15. Forms will be due back Friday, April 26. There will be absolutely no late forms! The talent show performance will be Friday, May 17 at 1:30 and 6:00 pm.

We are excited to see what talent our Bulldog's have.

Summer Reading

Summer reading programs are offered by the IUPUI Office of Community Engagement. Programs are taught by skilled and dedicated teachers from the Institute of Reading Development. Tuition varies by program level. For more information or to register call 1-800-903-0623.

Kindergarten Roundup

We are very excited to have our Kindergarten students join us on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:00 pm in the Dayton cafeteria for Kindergarten Roundup. If you have an incoming kindergarten student and you have Not registered them yet please call the office at 447-5004.

Golden Apple Award

Do you have a DES teacher that has made a positive influence on your student?  If so, please take a moment to nominate them for the 2020 Golden Apple Award. Nominations are due by April 15th!  The form is below. Thank you for helping us recognize all our teachers do!

Moving?

We are looking ahead to the 2019-2020 school year. If you know you will be moving and your child will not attend Dayton next year please contact the office and let us know.

Also if your child is in 5th grade and will not be attending Wainwright please notify us. It is important for us to know this information to plan accordingly. 

Mobile Library 

The mobile library will be stopping at Dayton Elementary School! This is a great way to to get some extra books for your kids reading pleasure. The following dates show when the mobile library will be in the school parking lot from 5:00-5:30 pm.
