Dayton Elementary October 6 | Issue 5 NEWSLETTER Words by Wildoner This Friday marks the end of the first 9 weeks. Conferences will be the week of October 16th. We are hoping to get 100% in attendance for conferences. Fall Festival Thank you to everyone for a successful Fall Festival! Our Dayton families had a great time. Thank you to PTO for all your hard work, all the parents that volunteered and donated items, and to Brown's Superior Catering for our yummy meal. Mrs. Stader's 7 Habits Project We are loving seeing all the fun ways kids are learning about the 7 Habits! Mrs. Stader's class did a project to show how it is important to use our words wisely. She had the kids pour toothpaste on a plate. The toothpaste came out super easy. Then she had them try to put the toothpaste back in the tube. They realized it was not so easy! They learned this with their words, words come out very fast but you can not put them back in. So make sure you are choosing your words carefully! Try A Device Free Dinner Did you know the average adult spends 9 hours a day on some form of device? Family dinners are a great time to shut off the T.V, put your phone away, turn your tablets off and spend dinner time with your family. Dinner conversations with your kids are so important to learn about their days, activities going on, fun and exciting things they are enjoying, and stay on top of any issues that could be going on. Research shows having conversations with your child during dinner makes kids happier and healthier, achieve better academics, have fewer behavior problems, and a lower risk of substance abuse. So take the No Device Challenge today! Turn off the device and make some memories with your kids! For more tips go to commonsensemedia.org. McCutcheon's Monster Mash McCutcheon is having their annual Maverick Monster Mash on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Come for a fun night of games, food, music, and candy! Dress up in your costumes and come meet MHS athletes. 4-H Is your child is interested in learning about 4-H? There will be a 4-H Expo on Saturday, Oct 7 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at the Fall Book Fair The Fall Book Fair will be open the week of October 16. The book fair will be available in the mornings before school, during your child's regular scheduled library time, and during evening conferences on Oct 17 and 19 from 4:00- 7:00 pm.
