A NOTE FROM THE OFFICE

It hard to believe December is here! Winter Break will be here before we know it. The second 9 weeks ends on Friday, December 22nd when students dismiss for break. With that being said, we want to make sure as many grades are in the system as possible. You can help with this by notifying us ahead of time if your child will be missing any school before break. This gives us time to complete any work they would miss prior to them being absent.

NO SCHOOL DECEMBER 25TH-JANUARY 8TH FOR WINTER BREAK.

STUDENTS RETURN WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9TH.

We wish all of our families a safe Winter Break!

BARNES & NOBLE BOOK FAIR

Mark your calendar for the Barnes & Noble Book Fair on Tuesday, December 5th from 5:30-8pm at Barnes & Noble. Shop for the holidays and support Mayflower Mill! A percentage of sales from Mayflower shoppers will be donated back to the school!

RECESS
With cooler weather, it's important to make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Please make sure your child is prepared to go outside with a coat, hat and gloves for recess. We will go outside to recess each day unless it is raining, snowing heavily, or the temperature is below 20 degrees. Please check the weather report daily to help your child make appropriate choices in what to wear. Per TSC policy, all students are required to go to recess each day unless they have a note from the doctor. If your child has outgrown a coat and you no longer have any use for it, please consider donating to our caring closet for students who may not have one. Also, if your child is in need of a coat, hat or gloves please contact us and we will try to get one for them.

COAT STORAGE
With cooler weather approaching we tend to see an increase in the spread of head lice. We encourage students to store coats, hats and gloves in their book bags during school. Also, please remind your student not to share hats or coats with other students. It is a good idea to check your child at home on a regular basis. If you would like the nurse to check at school please notify us.

LOST AND FOUND

Our lost and found table is very full! If your child is missing anything please have them check the table outside of the office. You may also call us and we would be happy to look for the item for you. Unclaimed items will be donated.

SNOW PRINCE AND PRINCESS

Congratulations to Owen Souligne and Mayce Nobile for being selected to represent MME as our Snow Prince and Princess. We would also like to congratulate Kaleb Fultz and Carlie Woods for being selected as alternates. Snow Prince and Princess are open to all 5th grade students. Students must write an anonymous letter to the staff stating why they would make a great representative of Mayflower Mill in the parade. The parade is on Sunday, December 2nd.

NOW HIRING BUS DRIVERS AND SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Tippecanoe School Corporation is now hiring bus drivers and substitute teachers. For more information and to apply please visit our website at www.tsc.k12.in.us.

TEXT ALERTS AND NOTIFICATIONS
Please do not forget to sign up for text alerts and notifications so you can be notified of a delay or cancellation. TSC recently sent a test alert to parents. If you are correctly signed up then you would have received this alert. If you believe you signed up and did not receive the test alert on October 24th please login to check your settings. Parents/guardians must have an active PowerSchool Parent Portal account with an accurate email address in order to sign in to the website. To sign in for the first time, parents/guardians will click the "Forgot Username or Password" option on the website login page, then enter the email address that is associated with their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Parents/guardians will then be able to reset the password for their website account, then add a cell phone number and register for SMS (text) alerts.

SCHOOL DELAYS AND BUS SCHEDULE

With winter weather approaching, the possibility of a 2 hour delay increases. If the delay is 2 hours, school will begin at 10:50am. Students should not come to school before 10:50am. If your child rides a bus, the pick-up time will be delayed by 2 hours. For example, if your child's bus comes at 8:35 on a normal day, it will arrive at 10:35 on a day we have a 2 hour delay. On 2 hour delay days, we will not serve breakfast. Our lunch will begin serving at 11:15, our regular time for Kindergarten. We again encourage everyone to register for the text message alerts. It is the most convenient notification concerning delays, closings and other events at Mayflower Mill Elementary. The TSC web page is also a fast way to learn about school delays and closings.

PRESIDENT'S DAY IS MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH AND WILL BE USED AS A SNOW MAKEUP DAY FOR ANY DAYS MISSED BEFORE 2/2/2018. IF NO SCHOOL DAYS ARE MISSED THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH. PLEASE STAY TUNED TO FUTURE NEWSLETTERS REGARDING THIS DAY.
