KINDERGARTEN ROUND UP 2018

Kindergarten Round Up has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 11th. Please save the date and notify anyone who has a child that will be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2018 to contact us as soon as possible by calling the office or emailing Mrs. Kochert at dekochert@tsc.k12.in.us. We will need to begin the registration process before Round Up. Registration does not take place at Round Up. Parents will need to bring their child's legal birth certificate and immunization record on April 11th! Your child must turn 5 years old before August 1, 2018 to be eligible. If you choose to email Mrs. Kochert please include the following information:

1. Child's full legal name (first, middle, last)

2. Child's date of birth

3. Parent/Guardian's name (first and last name)

4. Mailing address

5. email address

6. phone number

7. Child's race/ethnicity 

ISTEP+ TESTING

Please mark your calendars for February 26th-March 9th and April 16th-May 4th. These are the dates that all students in grade 3-5 will take Indiana's annual assessment tests. The tests are given in two sections. The section given in Feb/March is the written portion where students are asked to respond to literature and complex math situations while explaining their thinking. A writing prompt is also given during this time. The second sections in April/May is a multiple choice exam. Students are likely to perform better if given the opportunity to take each exam with his/her classmates. Please help our children do their personal best by making sure they are in attendance on those days. Please do not schedule trips or appointment on these days if at all possible. 

IREAD 3 TEST

The IREAD 3 test will be a short exam given to the third grade students March 12th-16th. It is very important that every 3rd grade student is present for this test. Children who do not pass this test will have an opportunity to attend a remedial summer program offered by the TSC. The exam will then be re-administered to those students in June. 

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

We will be having parent-teacher conferences March 12th-16th, with evening times available on Tuesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 15th. Please remember that these meetings are scheduled back to back so it is very important that you show up on time in order to keep everything on schedule. If you need to reschedule your conference please notify us as soon as possible and understand that spaces will be limited.

TEXT ALERTS AND NOTIFICATIONS
Please do not forget to sign up for text alerts and notifications so you can be notified of a delay or cancellation. TSC recently sent a test alert to parents. If you are correctly signed up then you would have received this alert. If you believe you signed up and did not receive the test alert on October 24th please login to check your settings. 

Parents/guardians must have an active PowerSchool Parent Portal account with a valid email address in order to sign in to the website. To sign in for the first time, parents/guardians will click the "Forgot Username or Password" option on the website login page, then enter the email address that is associated with their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Parents/guardians will then be able to reset the password for their website account, then add a cell phone number and register for SMS (text) alerts.

TSC students and staff will sign in to the website with their TSC username and password. Step by Step directions can be found on the TSC website. Please contact the TSC Technology Department with any questions regarding this process by email or by phone at 765-269-8060.

SCHOOL DELAYS AND BUS SCHEDULE

With winter weather approaching, the possibility of a 2 hour delay increases. If the delay is 2 hours, school will begin at 10:50am. Students should not come to school before 10:50am. If your child rides a bus, the pick-up time will be delayed by 2 hours. For example, if your child's bus comes at 8:35 on a normal day, it will arrive at 10:35 on a day we have a 2 hour delay.On 2 hour delay days, we will not serve breakfast. Our lunch will begin serving at 11:15, our regular time for Kindergarten. We again encourage everyone to register for the text message alerts. It is the most convenient notification concerning delays, closings and other events at Mayflower Mill Elementary. The TSC web page is also a fast way to learn about school delays and closings.

COAT STORAGE
With cooler weather approaching we tend to see an increase in the spread of head lice. We encourage students to store coats, hats and gloves in their book bags during school. Also, please remind your student not to share hats or coats with other students. It is a good idea to check your child at home on a regular basis. If you would like the nurse to check at school please notify us.

2017-2018 YEARBOOKS

Order forms have been sent out for the 17-18 yearbooks and are due back to the Mayflower Mill office by March 2nd. Please make checks payable to Lifetouch. 

SPELLING BEE

Our annual Spelling Bee was held on Monday, January 29th. All of our participants did a great job and we are very proud of them! Congratulations to Gabby Requireme who was our overall winner and Diego Morales for being our runner up. Gabby will represent Mayflower in the county wide spelling bee.
