We wrapped up the third nine weeks today with our Community Circle. Students were recognized for academics, attendance and for demonstrating the 7 Habits! The teachers put on a skit about Synergy! Together is Better!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
On April 11, 2012, Indiana passed the statute named Erin's Law. This law uses educational resources to help educate students about personal safety.
As a result of this state mandate, Dayton Elementary School will be teaching safety awareness in a sensitive and developmentally age-appropriate manner. This March and April, Miss Bacon will be meeting with each class to do the TSC-required body safety lesson. The lesson will teach students how to recognize when they feel uncomfortable, how to respond to uncomfortable situations, and how to identify a trusted person. The lesson is 30-40 minutes long and will consist of a book and a short discussion or a video and short discussion. It is important each student participates in this safety lesson.

Congratulations
Mrs. Wolf and Mrs. Howard have both received funding from Donors Choose for their classroom projects. Mrs. Wolf will be doing a "Music to our ears" project, and Mrs. Howard is doing "Learning through Music" project. Way to go!
Reading Chain
Ms. Miller and Mrs. Clute's 3rd grade classes have read over 500 books since the first day of school! That is Amazing! They got to parade through the school with their reading chain to show off their Huge accomplishment! Way to go super readers!
Golden Apple Award
Congratulations to the the 2018 Golden Apple Award winners from TSC! We would like to recognize Mrs. Tackett from Wainwright Middle School, Mr. Rice from East Tipp Middle School, and Mrs. Buck from Battle Ground Middle School. TSC is now taking Nominations for next year's Golden Apple award. Nominations are due April 30, 2018. Please click the link below to nominate a teacher that you feel deserves this honorable award.

Kindergarten Roundup
Dayton will be having Kindergarten Roundup Wednesday, April 11th at 6:00 pm. Please plan on attending this important meeting with your child. If you have not registered your upcoming kindergartner please call the office at 447-5004 to scheduled your child's pre-screening. We look forward to meeting you all!
Bulldog Jog 5K Color run
Dayton Elementary's PTO is hosting the first annual Bulldog Jog 5K color Run on Saturday, April 28th. All proceeds benefit the Dayton Elementary School PTO, which provides support to the students, teacher, and staff of Dayton Elementary through various projects, purchases and programs.
This is open to everyone, all ages, serious runners, families and anyone just looking to come out and have fun while supporting our school.
*Early registration by March 31st:
$25 per adult runner
$10 for kids 8-16
Children under 8 free ($6 per t-shirt if desired)
*Register between March 31st and April 20th :
$30 per adult runner
$15 for kids 8-16
Children under 8 free ($6 per t-shirt if desired)
*Registration will be open up to the start of the race on race day, however, you must register by April 20th to receive a race t-shirt

Super Summer Program at Purdue

Dayton Summer Rec Fundraiser
*DSR is selling Parrott's Pork Burgers to help support the DSR program. You can purchase a 3lb box (original or bacon) for $12.00 a box. Please make checks payable to Dayton Summer Rec. Extra forms are available in the office. Forms and payments are due by April 4th. For questions please contact Randy Risner at 765-413-5614.
*DSR is hosting a "Hitting Homers for Landyn" on Sunday March 18th from 11:30 am-4:30 pm at the Dayton baseball fields. They will have a winter carnival, concession, and auction. Please come to help support a local family in there time of need.
Mobile Library
The Mobile Library will be visiting Dayton from now through May. There location will be on Nicely Drive from 5:00 pm-5:30 pm on the following dates. Just look for the Mobile Library truck.
