5 Minute Rule

The general rule is that if you are going to be out of the room for more than 5 minutes it is cost effective to turn off the lights. Yes, turning the light off/on may shorten the life of the bulbs; however, the cost savings from saving electricity will always outweigh the cost of replacing the bulbs in the long run.

Last year the Corporation spend nearly 2 million dollars in electricity. So as insignificant as this might seem it can make a significant financial impact on the Corporation’s operational cost.
