Students at Wea Ridge Middle School played drums, danced and sang during a convocation that focused on good character and making good choices. The organization Dancing Drum led the program that had students chanting about treating people right, respect and responsibility to hip-hop music. Director Steve Campbell uses instruments to teach children how to work together as a team. "Drumming is a great tool because you can tell when you are working together or not," says Campbell. Using drums, maracas and other percussion instruments the students used rhythm to perform songs about caring and respect.
