While students are out on summer break, hundreds of teachers gathered June 6 and 7 to learn more about how to enhance learning through technology at the sixth annual Lafayette Regional eLearning Conference at Sunnyside Intermediate School. Sessions ranged from how to create a makerspace at school to incorporating cybersecurity across disciplines.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jennifer McCormick led a roundtable discussion on expanding STEM opportunities for students. She also talked about the importance of agriculture education, teacher retention efforts and making curriculum more flexible for schools.
The conference is a collaboration of Delphi, Lafayette, Rossville and Tippecanoe School Corporations, the Purdue College of Education and Wabash Valley Education Center. The event is partially funded by grants from the Indiana Department of Education and provides high-quality professional development for educators.
