Schools celebrate Read Across America
Schools celebrate Read Across America

Students across the country and the TSC are celebrating the birthday of beloved children's book author Theodor Seuss Geisel, known as Doctor Seuss.

Students at Mintonye Elementary School enjoyed a series of guest speakers who shared favorite stories and various Cat in the Hat activities. Rex rabbit, Hocus Pocus, made an appearance in Jacqui Grider's first-grade classroom to share the story of Jasper the rabbit and the "Creepy Pair of Underwear."

Some schools, like Dayton and Battle Ground Elementary, prepared a Dr. Seuss specialty -- green eggs and ham. Wea Ridge Elementary kicked off its annual read-a-thon where children are encouraged to read at least 20 minutes a night. Students and staff at Wyandotte and other schools dressed as their favorite Seuss characters -- all for the love of reading.
