TSC bus technician Kirk Brooks took first place in the School Transportation Association of Indiana's recent competition in Indianapolis. Brooks, an eight-year employee of the TSC, says the annual competition is a chance to receive updates on existing products and learn about emerging technology in the transportation industry.
By winning the state competition June 8 at MSD Warren Township School Corporation in Indianapolis, Brooks qualifies for the national competition. The National Association of Pupil Transportation will host the competition in October in Kansas City, Missouri.
Fleet Manager Steve Leman has a team of technicians that service nearly 150 buses. He says it is important for TSC to allow its technicians to compete against the best the state has to offer. The competition consists of training, testing, and troubleshooting skills competition. "TSC technicians have won the state contest five times in the last 10 years," says Leman. "This speaks highly of our operation. I am proud to have Kirk as my shop foreman and I am proud of all of our technicians for working hard every day to keep our students and staff safe."
