Lilly Endowment Incorporated awarded Teacher Creativity Fellowships to two TSC teachers: Padraig Kavanagh from Wea Ridge Middle School and Gaylene Hayden from Harrison High School. The two educators are among 100 Indiana teachers who will have a chance to nurture their own curiosity and development through a $12,000 grant.
Kavanagh, a social studies teacher, will travel to Ireland to study how the Good Friday agreement altered the social, political and cultural makeup of Northern Ireland. His focus will be on community-minded groups working toward reconciliation.
Hayden, a French teacher, will travel to Quebec and France to learn to play a fretted fingerboard, attend an international guitar festival and participate in a weeklong seminar.
The Lilly Endowment's Teacher Creativity Fellowship Program has been giving teachers, principals, assistant principals, guidance counselors and school media specialists the financial support and encouragement to renew their commitment to the education profession since 1987.
