Burnett Creek Elementary students return to enhanced playground

Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC) celebrated the completion of playground improvements at Burnett Creek Elementary School with a ribbon-cutting ceremony August 5. The improvements, made possible by a $60,000 donation from SK hynix, enhance an outdoor space enjoyed by more than 700 students.

The project includes resurfaced playground areas, new benches and basketball hoops. It represents one of the company's first visible investments in local education and follows a combined $260,000 in financial contributions to local school corporations and foundations in Greater Lafayette last year.

"As SK hynix becomes part of the Greater Lafayette community, we are excited about the opportunities that come from working together to support students," says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. "This investment at Burnett Creek Elementary is a wonderful example of how community partnerships can enhance the experiences we provide for students."

At Burnett Creek Elementary School, the improvements will enhance a space where students gather each day for recess, physical education and outdoor activities.

“Our playground is an important part of our school because it gives students a place to be active, build friendships and create memories with their classmates," says Principal Matt Ridenour. "We are grateful to SK hynix for this investment and for helping us enhance a space that students enjoy every day."

"We're thrilled to engage more deeply with the community through this investment," says Choonhwan Kim, EVP and Head of Global Infrastructure at SK hynix. "As more families become part of the Greater Lafayette community, we are committed to being a responsible neighbor by supporting local schools and helping create opportunities that benefit students and families."

At the August 5 ribbon-cutting ceremony, third grader Teddy Puetz and fifth grader Sloane Meyer were the first to enjoy the new basketball hoops, before school and SK hynix representatives joined them on the court.
