Klondike teacher named among Indiana's Top 25 Teachers of the Year

A Klondike Elementary School physical education teacher is one of the state’s Top 25 finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year.

The Indiana Department of Education announced the finalists, recognizing educators from across Indiana for their commitment to students and excellence in teaching.

Andrea Bornino, a Purdue University graduate with 19 years of experience in education, focuses on helping students build confidence, develop lifelong healthy habits and embrace new challenges.

“I am truly honored to be named one of the Top 25 Indiana Teachers of the Year alongside so many extraordinary educators,” Bornino says. “For me, teaching has never been about honors; it has always been about my students. My true reward comes from sharing the joy of movement with them every day and helping them discover what they are capable of.” 

Bornino says she is proud to represent TSC and Klondike Elementary in the Indiana Teacher of the Year program.

“I am deeply grateful to teach in a district that allows us to create unique, meaningful learning experiences for our students,” says Bornino. “This recognition reflects the support of our school, our community and the collaborative spirit of the entire corporation.”

A committee will review the finalists and select the Top 10 later this month.
