The Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Cole Elementary School as a Tree Campus. The national organization awards the distinction to K-12 schools that are committed to nature-based education.

“What an honor to have Cole Elementary School recognized as a tree-friendly campus,” says Cole Principal Mike Pinto. “We work at all grade levels to get outside and to be good stewards of nature with multiple experiences at our Outdoor Education Center that promote nature and conservation. We have an apple orchard on-site and many curricular pieces built into our year that celebrate trees and their worth to our planet. Our partnership with Keep Stockwell Beautiful also promotes our tree-friendly focus."

Cole Elementary is one of only 64 schools across the country to earn the recognition.

“We want to inspire young people to develop a lifelong respect for trees and understand the many benefits green spaces bring to communities,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Cole Elementary is playing a key role in the effort to usher in a new generation of environmental stewards.”
