Four TSC teachers honored with 2026 Golden Apple Awards

Four TSC educators have been named among the 2026 Golden Apple Award winners by Greater Lafayette Commerce. The teachers are being recognized for their dedication, creativity and lasting impact on students and school communities. Ann Hammons (Harrison High School), Sarah Harmon (Dayton Elementary School), Lisa Merryman (Woodland Elementary School) and Sara Wright (Cole Elementary School) will be honored Feb. 18 at the Greater Lafayette Career Academy.

Ann Hammons – Harrison High School
Ann Hammons, an English teacher, has devoted 39 years to education, building strong relationships with students that extend beyond the classroom. Known as one of Harrison’s biggest supporters, she consistently cheers on students and colleagues while mentoring future educators. Hammons holds bachelor's degree from Franklin College and a master's degree from Purdue University.

Sarah Harmon – Dayton Elementary School
Sarah Harmon, who teaches fourth and fifth grade High Ability students, is recognized for creating an inclusive classroom where students feel valued and connected. She volunteers countless hours leading after-school clubs, including a talent show that gives every student a chance to shine, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Harmon has 24 years of experience with TSC and holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Walden University.

Lisa Merryman – Woodland Elementary School
Lisa Merryman, a kindergarten teacher, brings 29 years of experience and a child-centered approach to learning. Her innovative partnerships, including a grant-funded collaboration with local high school culinary students, give her young learners meaningful, hands-on experiences. The Purdue University graduate’s commitment to community connections and nurturing classroom environment helps students build confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.

Sara Wright – Cole Elementary School
Sara Wright, a fifth-grade teacher, is known for the relationships she builds with students and colleagues. Wright inspires students through creativity, strong planning and an unwavering belief that every child can succeed. She has helped expand access to books through a student-run vending machine and developed new initiatives that strengthen school culture. Wright has 21 years of experience with TSC and holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
