Nonprofit recognizes essential school employees
Sue Scott

A local nonprofit organization is recognizing four TSC schools for serving as essential workers during the pandemic. In this initial round of awards, Good Samaritan Project presented a certificate and gifts at Harrison High School, McCutcheon High School, Klondike Middle School and Klondike Elementary School.

Good Samaritan Project Founder Paula Davis says it is important to recognize frontline workers as a way to boost morale and thank them for their service.

School leaders were honored to be recognized for their efforts in keeping students safe and learning through the pandemic.

"We are grateful at Harrison for the generosity of the Good Samaritan Project in recognizing our faculty and staff as frontline workers in the midst of the global pandemic,” says Harrison High School Principal Cory Marshall. “We appreciate their notice of our staff's efforts in working with the leaders of tomorrow, our students, over the course of the last eighteen months and continuing into the future."

“Our teachers and staff members are working hard to ensure our students are receiving the services they need during these challenging times,” says Principal Gloria Grigsby. “This year, our school is focusing on identifying and closing the academic and social/emotional gaps that students are faced with due to the pandemic. We are implementing a variety of educational resources as well as Conscious Discipline strategies to connect with our students and build relationships that will lead to successes in the classroom. I am so proud of the MHS teachers, paraprofessionals, and office staff who dedicate themselves to our students every day.”

Davis says this was the initial round of thanking school employees for their dedicated service to the students and other schools will be recognized later this year.
