Southwestern music students recognized at Statehouse

Southwestern Middle School music teacher Camden Ritchie and members of the Southwestern Middle School choirs traveled to the Indiana Statehouse February 18 to be recognized for their musical achievements and to demonstrate to legislators the quality of arts education in Indiana. The Indiana Arts Education Network recognized the Southwestern Middle School choirs for receiving the ISSMA All-Music Award during the 2018-2019 school year.

Additionally, Mrs. Ritchie and students met with local legislators Chris Campbell and Sheila Klinker to discuss the importance of well-rounded educational experiences for all students.

Choir student representatives were Shayela Ewing, Jacqueline Bennett, Mekala Sandifur, Elizabeth Gamble and Hunter Baldwin.
