TSC names new Harrison High School assistant principal
Sue Scott

The Tippecanoe School Corporation has appointed Francine Denecke as an assistant principal at Harrison High School. Denecke replaces Cory Runkle who accepted a position as principal of South Adams High School in Berne, Indiana.

Denecke holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from Ball State University. She has 13 years of teaching experience. Most recently, she served as an interim assistant principal at Klondike Elementary School.

“I am passionate about teaching and feel strongly about making a positive impact on students. As an administrator, I want to bring that passion and positivity to support teachers, students and parents at a broader level,” Denecke says. “I jumped at the chance to join Harrison because the school has a wonderful administrative team and a reputation of having a great culture.”

In her new role as assistant principal, Denecke will oversee daily school schedules and operations, conduct teacher evaluations, work with student attendance and discipline, assist with the school safety plan, and organize and supervise student extracurricular events. She will provide support and leadership to the Harrison student body of 1,921 and approximately 150 staff members.

Harrison Principal Cory Marshall is excited to have Denecke on board. “She rose to the top of a large pool of applicants based upon her clear enthusiasm for working with young people,” says Marshall. “Her personable nature and her desire to expand her impact upon the students and staff at Harrison will be an asset to our school from her first day in the position.”

The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified Denecke’s contract at its August 12 meeting.
