TSC names two new elementary principals
Sue Scott

The Tippecanoe School Corporation has named Marisa Arms as the new principal of Wyandotte Elementary School and Brock Richardson as the principal of Mintonye Elementary School. The appointments come with the retirement of two veteran school leaders.

Arms has served as the assistant principal at Klondike Elementary School for the last six years. She has several years of teaching experience and holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Ball State University.

“Mrs. Arms brings a positive and collaborative approach to leadership and a passionate desire to see students learn, grow, and achieve success,” says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. “Her student-focused vision for excellence will include building relationships, listening, learning, and supporting the entire Wyandotte community.”

“I am honored and excited to be joining the Wyandotte Elementary School community as their next principal,” says Arms. “My top priority will be to foster a safe and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. I look forward to working closely with the Wyandotte teachers, staff, parents, and community partners to ensure that our students receive the best possible education and opportunities for success.”

Arms replaces Mary Beth Fitzgerald who was Wyandotte Elementary School’s first principal when it opened in 2011.

Richardson has served as the assistant principal at Woodland Elementary School since 2019. He has several years of teaching experience and earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Kokomo and a master’s degree from Ball State University.

“Mr. Richardson has a proven track record of success,” says Hanback. “He works collaboratively with teachers and staff in order to help students along their educational journey. He’s taken on many different roles and responsibilities in his current position which will translate well into his new duties at Mintonye Elementary.”

“I know Mintonye values tradition, community, and connections, and I feel honored to be a part of that,” says Richardson. “My goal is to foster a positive and collaborative learning environment for the staff and students, where we are all driven to reach success for every student. I value partnerships between the school and families, and working together for the betterment of each child.”

Richardson will replace Rob Skaggs who is the longest serving principal in Mintonye history at 24 years.

The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified administrative contracts for Arms and Richardson at the March 8 meeting. The new principals will transition to their new roles July 17.
