Wellness wins again at East Tipp
Sue Scott

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has awarded East Tipp Middle School the National Healthy Schools Award for the fifth time, recognizing the school’s ongoing efforts to keep students and staff healthy and active.

“This recognition celebrates the teamwork, fun and creativity that go into keeping our students and staff active, healthy and happy,” says Wellness Teacher Danielle Wynn. “We’ve applied for this award for six years and have won in several categories each year.”

The award acknowledges excellence across nine areas that support school health, including nutrition, physical activity, mental wellness, staff well-being, and family and community engagement. At East Tipp, the Wellness Committee leads a variety of fun, creative events throughout the year, including an annual Fun Run, carry-in breakfasts/healthy lunches and corporation-wide wellness challenges.

“Our staff, students and cafeteria team all work together to make wellness fun and engaging,” Wynn says. “The award is a great way to showcase the amazing things our school community is doing and also see areas where we can continue to improve.”
